Modern Day Harriet

This original framed piece depicts the strong leadership of today's black woman, who carries the strength, courage and determination of her ancestor Harriet Tubman, as well as the challenges of being forced by society to take on roles and responsibilities that were meant to be shared in a partnership.

The Modern Day Harriet never intended to be the lone independent woman.  You see...society attempted to devalue her, and greatly minimized her ability to build and grow as part of a team. Unfortunately, this resulted in her can do and will do attitude causing confusion and often being misunderstood. She's simply a natural leader who knows her worth. 

Don't get it twisted...she has a lot of love in her heart, but she doesn't wait for a seat at the table. She's not afraid to break out her power move. This woman will show up to the meeting in the boardroom, in a formal gown, a pair of stilettos, and her hair in a fro...and while you are so caught up in her audacity to be her beautiful and authentic self, you're missing the incredible knowledge and nuggets she's dropping during her PowerPoint presentation.  Just like Harriet Tubman, the Modern Day Harriet means business!
