You don’t have to feel overwhelmed or compelled to complete your room make-over in a short amount of time. Room make-overs don’t always happen in one smooth move. Sometimes it takes a while to source each piece, so give yourself some grace and be patient throughout the process.
We usually have the larger pieces of furniture for a quite a while, so it’s important that we source each item with extreme thoughtfulness and care. We don’t want large furniture pieces that we simply like. We want pieces that we love, because we intend to live with these pieces for quite some time.
If you are purchasing online, you might also want to consider the size, cost, shipping, reviews, and the amount of time and expertise required to assemble each piece.
When I decided to add pieces to my living and dining areas, I knew I wanted the color scheme of the larger pieces, such as the accent cabinet and the buffet/sideboard to be white and black with gold accents.
I window shopped online for months to get an idea of the style I wanted. Although I wanted a specific color scheme, I was adamant against getting a cookie cutter set. I wanted each piece to have its own unique features and benefits, while staying consistent with the theme.
I sourced these two furniture pieces from Wayfair, and I assembled most of it alone, and received assistance from one other person for the last leg of the assembling process.
