Yes, it absolutely does matter when traveling.
Here’s what matters most to me, as it pertains to luggage when I travel.
First, I prefer a luggage set. It’s uniform and it makes it easier to identify at baggage claim. It also makes it easier to store when you’re not traveling, as you can store one inside the other.
Secondly, I like pretty things, so my luggage must be aesthetically pleasing. A beautiful semi-shiny finish on my luggage exudes elegance, and who doesn’t want to carry a piece of elegant luggage through the airport? Well, maybe it’s just me, and that’s okay.
My luggage must have adjustable telescoping handles and multi-directional wheels for ease of use. You know, for those days that you miscalculate how much time you have before you have to board the plane, so you rush madly through the airport. Well, the last thing you need is to have to carry heavy luggage. It's so much easier to maneuver through crowds of people when you have luggage on wheels.
I also look for luggage that is lightweight for easy lifting, yet sturdy and durable with a hard shell to protect and support the items that are inside of the luggage.
It must have enough room and compartments to carry my clothing, other travel essentials, as well as any items I purchase during my travel.
Another feature preference is luggage that include a TSA approved lock. This provides me a level of comfort and security knowing that my luggage is locked during my travel. If I find luggage that doesn't offer this feature, I simply purchase a separate TSA approved lock for my luggage.
Finally, at least one piece of the set must meet the carry-on height and width guidelines, as I’ve traveled enough to know that there’s a chance the checked luggage may get delayed or lost. Being able to take a carry-on with items to support a few days of travel provides an ease of mind.
